Official information request regarding Electrical and Electronic Engineering
(EEEN) courses
We refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) dated 15 January 2025:
“Could the Faculty of Engineering please explain why the internationally
recognized core courses ECEN 303 (Analogue Electronics) and ECEN 302
(Integrated Digital Electronics) were removed from the elective course list ?”
The University renamed its Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering (ECEN)
programme to Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEEN) in 2020. This change
necessitated modifications to a range of courses offered within the new programme,
including but not limited to ECEN302 and ECEN303. As a result, both of these courses
were discontinued, and their content was integrated into other courses where feasible.
The attached programme amendment documentation offers a more detailed explanation
of this process.
