Your Official Information Act 1982 request OIA2425-0626 Thank you for your email of 19 December 2024 to the Department of Internal Affairs (the
Department) requesting the fol owing under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
…copies of any reports, audits or investigations that You have conducted into The Masse
Cuesports Club between 2015 and 2025.
Response to your request
A range of documents, dated from 2015 to 2024, fal within scope of your request. These are listed
at
Appendix A.
Some information has been withheld from some of the documents listed at documents 1 to 30,
and documents 44 and 45, under the fol owing sections of the Act:
• 6(d), to endanger the safety of any person; and
• 9(2)(a), to protect the privacy of natural persons;
• 9(2)(b)(ii), to protect information where the making available of the information would be
likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or
who is the subject of the information; and
• 9(2)(h), to maintain legal professional privilege.
Documents 31 to 43 in Appendix A are related to ongoing work being undertaken by the
Department, and as such cannot be released without prejudicing “the maintenance of the law,
including the prevention, investigation, and detection of offences, and the right to a fair trial”.
These documents are therefore being withheld in full under section 6(c) of the Act.
Public interest considerations
As is required by section 9(1) of the Act, considerations have been made as to whether the
grounds for withholding information under sections 9(2)(a), 9(2)(b)(ii) and 9(2)(h) are outweighed
by other considerations which would render it desirable, in the public interest, to make that
information available. In this instance, it is not considered to be the case.
