We have installed two new 100mm pipes to cater for any overflow if the sump becomes
blocked. These pipes will ensure any overflow does not exceed the height of the islands. If water
rises high enough to spill over these islands, the overland flow path will function in the same
way as it did before.

The analysis for the new 100mm pipes was conducted onsite, and while it did not directly
compare to the previous set up, it was determined that the overland flow path across the
islands will not be any worse in future events. If this does not prove to be correct, we will
undertake work to install an additional sump. However, we want to assure you and
of
our confidence that the current set up will work effectively and the recent changes should not
make the existing situation worse. This is supported by recent monitoring of the stormwater
drainage following construction during periods of heavy rain to ensure the sumps were working
as expected – and no concerns have been identified.

We have attached a video showing this. Even with leaves and some rubbish (which is a common
occurrence in your area), you can see the stormwater is managed and there is no evidence of
water pooling around the raised threshold crossing. To ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the
system, we have added the sump to our critical sump list which will mean it will be cleaned
every three months. This is additional work to the monthly sweep by our maintenance team,
with the most recent sweep occurring on 18/10/2024.

If there are any issues between sweeps or sump cleaning, our contractor can complete urgent
work earlier than the planned three-monthly cycle. If you notice rubbish clearly blocking the
sump, please contact the Council or use the ‘FIXiT’ app.

Shout out if you need anything more…

Regards

Brad Singh

Thank you for sending these through.
I will share these with our delivery lead, who can use them to refer to when assessing the
drainage in this area during the crossing works.
Jack and I will be on site at some point over the next few days to assess the disruption in and out
of work hours.

Please let me know if there is anything else you need prior to then.

Subject: Upcoming Work at Saint Mary Street
Kia ora
Thank you for meeting with Jack and myself yesterday to discuss the upcoming work at Saint
Mary Street among other items which I will cover off below.
It was useful meeting to discuss the upcoming work, as we were able to also discuss some of your
other concerns, including the drainage issue and signage request for P10 at all times.
Here is a summary of what we discussed:
The current work at the Tinakori/Bowen bus stop is tracking for completion at the end of
this week (8/09/24) – weather dependant.
The work on Saint Mary Street is scheduled to start on the following week (9/09/24) and is
likely to take two weeks for completion (22/09/24) – weather dependant. The works will be
undertaken during the hours of 9.00am – 4.00pm.
During the work, there will be parking temporarily removed on Saint Mary Street and
Tinakori Road. Some of this will be re-instated outside of the work hours, except for 1-2
parks that may be required to store plant/equipment outside of the work hours. I have
attached the TMP for your reference also.
Jack and/or myself will be visiting site once the work has started to assess disruption, along
with a second visit outside of the work hours to assess this also.

A request for drainage investigation and assessment of the area we discussed has been
flagged to our delivery lead, I will update you once we know more about this matter – most
likely when the footpath has been opened in this zone.
A request for the P10 sign change to P10 at all times has also been made with the delivery
lead, I will also update you on this once I have received a confirmation of this change.
The site contact for this work from Downer will be Darren Chetty – 021 195 9211. For any
urgent site issues, please feel free to contact Darren. For anything else, please contact me
of Jack.

Thanks again for your time yesterday, please let me know if you have any questions or need
anything else at this time.
