Extension of time to respond to request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 3 December 2024 requesting the fol owing information under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
1.  The business cases for al  current Roads of National Significance (RoNS) projects, 
including: 
•  Cost Benefit Ratios (BCRs) 
•  Present Value calculations 
•  Economic assessment details 
•  Project cost estimates – Publicly available:  
2.  Specifical y for the Hawke's Bay Expressway four-laning project:

•  Detailed BCR analysis

•  Cost estimates 
 
This letter is to advise you that NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is extending the 20 
working days available to respond to your request, as allowed for under section 15A of the Act. 
We require an additional ten working days and wil  send you a response on or before 5 February 
2025.  
 
The deadline is being extended as your request is for a large quantity of information and the 
consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a thorough response 
cannot reasonably be made within the original 20-working-day limit.  
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to complain to the Ombudsman about the 
extension. More information about the Ombudsman is available online at 
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
