Request for information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 21 November 2024. You
requested:
Number of total hours/time spent by Police/Police prosecutors/legal counsel if
any on the Brian Tamaki case in which charges were recently dropped.
Total costs incurred if any, by Police on this case. Please provide ful breakdown.
Cost of any outside or legal counsel sought/provided on this case, if any.
Police does not hold information about the internal costs related to the total hours/time
spent on this matter; therefore, this part of your request is refused under section 18(g) of
the OIA, as the information requested is not held.
Police has engaged the Crown Solicitor, Meredith Connell, to represent Police in this
prosecution. Meredith Connell has confirmed that the costs incurred to date are
$73,853.30 including the final invoice dated 22 November 2024. Meredith Connel has
advised that there is no outstanding work in progress and no further anticipated costs.
