We refer to your email dated 16  November 2024 requesting information under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). The response to your request is set out below.  
 
Request 1: Please supply me with the total number of staff across all depts of TVNZ 
who took leave for the period spanning 12 November to 20th November 2024.  
 
Response 1: 79 TVNZers took leave during this date range (Tuesday 12 November to 
Wednesday 20 November). For context, 92 TVNZers took leave during that timeframe 
in 2023 (Tuesday 14 November and Wednesday 22 November). Note that this includes 
staff on parental leave.  
 
Request 2: Please also include those in senior management positions in these numbers. 
 
Response:  Of that 79 who took leave, 4 were senior  management, which includes 
members of the Executive and their direct reports (mostly General Managers).  
 
Request 3: Total number who specifically requested leave to attend the Hikoi against 
the Treaty Principles Bil ? 
   
Response 3: TVNZ does not require staff to disclose a reason for annual leave,  
  
Please note that section 28 of the Act sets out the circumstances in which you may 
make a complaint to the Ombudsman in order to seek an investigation and review of
