Thank you for your email of 06 November 2024 to Oranga Tamariki – Ministry 
for  Children  (Oranga  Tamariki),  requesting  information  under  the  Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
You have requested: 
  
-  all communications and documents that record those communications 
between Oranga Tamariki officials and iwi, including records about iwi, as it 
relates to Military Style Academies and Young Serious Offenders work. 
- all communication and records from Oranga Tamariki officials that discuss Te 
Tiriti o Waitangi as it relates to Military Style Academies and Young Serious 
Offenders work. 
 
The consultations necessary to make a decision on this request are such that a proper 
response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. For this reason, I 
am extending the time limit for providing you with the information to 23 January 2025 
(noting that this date takes into account the summer close down period) in accordance 
with  section  15A(1)(b)  of  the  Act.  We  wil   try  to  respond  sooner  than  this  date  if 
possible.
