Thank you for your email of 30 October 2024 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
1) Please release all documents and emails under the Official Information Act showing the entire
recruitment process which led to Julia Shanahan being seconded as the Compliance Manager.
a) Including many people applied, how long the position was advertised for, how many people were
shortlisted, interviewed and what was the ranking of candidates.
b)
Including all internal emails to and from the hiring manager, recruitment panel, Human
Resources, and any other staff relating to this recruitment process.
MBIE’s secondment policy does not require short term secondments of less than six months to be
advertised. Employees can be direct placed in a short term secondment without a full recruitment
process, which is what has occurred in this case. Therefore, I am refusing your request under section
18(e) of the Act, as the information you have requested does not exist.
The permanent position is due to be advertised in the new year and a recruitment process undertaken.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request or this response, or if you require any further assistance,
please contact
[email address]. You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information
about how to make a complaint is availab
le at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802
602.
