Request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 
Thank you for your email to the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) received on 27 October 
2024, requesting the following information under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
“I am writing to enquire as to the amount of sexual lubricants imported into New Zealand in 
the last financial year. Please provide me with the following information. 
1) How many litres of sexual lubricants did Customs approve for import into New Zealand? 
2) Of question 1, please provide a breakdown by type (water based, oil based, silicone 
based).” 
Customs does not collect the requested information, as there is no HS tariff classification for imports 
under “sexual lubricants”. Therefore, Customs is refusing your request in full under section 18 (e) of 
the Act, as the information does not exist or is not held by Customs, or, despite reasonable efforts to 
locate it, cannot be found. 
You have the right, by way of complaint to the Of ice of the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the 
Act, to seek an investigation and review of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint
