Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of 
Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 1 November 2024 for information regarding formal 
advice related to establishing a new medical school. You requested:  
“Please provide plans, business cases and economic evaluations related to establishing a 
medical school.” 
The Ministry has proactively released information relating to the New Waikato Medical School. 
The first group of documents are available on the Ministry’s website here:

includes Cabinet material and supporting papers associated with the New Medical School 
Programme Business Case (PBC) and Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) that were considered by 
Cabinet in September 2024.
