Dear John
Thank you for your email of 20 October 2024 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
“I noted, you have recently call for nomination for your Financial Advisers Disciplinary
Committee. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications you have received
from the public and how many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or
Ministry of women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have
interviewed. Also, can I request to view the standard appointment letter for member of the
Financial Advisers Disciplinary Committee. I am happy for you to remove all the personal
information.”
Please see below my response to your request.
Public nominations for the Financial Advisers Disciplinary Committee Member position were as follows:
• The position was advertised on Govt.jobs and Seek platforms
• Forty-nine applications were received
• Two candidates were endorsed by the Ministry for Ethnic Communities
We are currently in the process of interviewing the shortlisted candidates and no new appointment has
been made yet for the Financial Advisers Disciplinary Committee. Therefore, I am refusing part of your
request, namely, for a copy of
the appointment letter for member of the Financial Advisers Disciplinary
Committee under section 18 (e) of the Act as the document alleged to contain the information
requested does not exist.
I trust you will find this information useful.
