OIA: 1338407 - Secondary school needed in Mil water/Mil dale/Silverdale 
Thank you for your email of 20 October 2024 via the FYI website to the Ministry of Education (the 
Ministry) requesting the following information:  
I was hoping you can tell me if there is any plans for a secondary school from year 6 up to 
12 or 13 That wil  be built here in mil water/mil dale/silverdale? 
The areas outlined are currently served by Orewa College, which is a year 7 to 13 secondary 
school. The Ministry has plans for a new secondary school at Wainui, for which land is currently 
being acquired. The current targeted opening date for the new school is 2030.  
Please find a link below to the Ministry’s National Education Growth Plan (NEGP), which was 
developed in 2019 for planning up until 2030. Please note that this is used for planning purposes, 
and is not indicative of where a school wil  definitively be built to meet demand:
