Thank you for your email of 20 October 2024, requesting the fol owing information from Te Pūkenga
– New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (Te Pūkenga):
A number of reviews have been taken of health programs taught at Te Pūkenga since the
formation. Please provide these reports, including the recent reports at Whitireia, WelTec and
UniTec
On 23 October my office wrote to you seeking clarification on your request. As advised, there are
numerous health programmes and courses taught across Te Pūkenga. Noting your specific reference
to Unitec, Whitireia and WelTec, we asked you to detail the titles and dates of the specific reports
you were interested in.
You kindly clarified your request on 24 October with the fol owing:
Please provide any reviews of nursing, midwifery or paramedicine, from Whitirereia and WelTec,
undertaken within the last year.
This letter provides a formal decision on your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).
The decision
Whitireia and WelTec have not undertaken any specific formal kaimahi (staffing) nor curricula
reviews of the 11 programmes in nursing and three paramedicine programmes offered (refer to
www.whitireiaweltec.ac.nz/study-programmes/health/) within the last year whilst a business
division of Te Pūkenga. Whitireia and WelTec do not deliver midwifery.
We must therefore refuse your request under section 18(e) of the OIA as the “
document alleged to
contain the information requested does not exist”.
You have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the OIA if you are
not happy with this response. Information about how to do this is available at

We may publish our OIA responses and the information contained in our reply to you on our website.
