“Could you please provide a breakdown of funding provided to all of the Iwi Maori

Could you please provide a breakdown of funding provided to all of the Iwi Maori
Partnership Boards since their inception, broken down by IMPB and a breakdown of what
the funding was for.
Attached in Appendix one: Table A - is a breakdown of the contracted funding allocated to each iwi
Māori partnership board (IMPB) since their inception (1 July 2022) to the date of your request (16
October 2024).
Each IMPB wil use funding through this Contract to engage administrative, analytical, or financial
capability to assist the Board achieve the following core functions outlined in section 30 of the Pae
Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022:
• to engage with whānau and hapū, and share the resulting insights and perspectives with
Health NZ, the Te Aka Whai Ora, and the wider health system
• to evaluate the current state of hauora Māori in their locality or localities, and to determine
priorities for improving hauora Māori
• to work with Health NZ in developing priorities for improving hauora Māori
• monitor the performance of the health system in the relevant locality
• to engage with Health NZ and support it stewardship of hauora Māori and its priorities for
kaupapa Māori investment and innovation
• report on the Hauora Māori activities of Health NZ to Māori within the area covered by the
IMPB.
To achieve these core functions, the IMPB may engage:
• secretariat support
• finance support
• policy analysis and writing (e.g. needs assessments, whānau engagement results, draft
documents for locality plans)
• data analysis (e.g. data to support locality planning priority setting, identifiable barriers to
whānau access and outcomes)
• whānau engagement (e.g. organising, leading, reporting on whānau engagement which
may be through multiple mechanisms).
Funding may also be used to cover operating costs (rent, power, supplies etc), board meeting fees,
travel costs and any costs of engagement with whānau and hapori Māori (e.g. venue hire,
facilitator fees, catering, communications, reporting).
This funding is for local IMPB activity. It excludes costs for regional and national forums or
meetings.
Please note: Funding may not be used for other activities and functions. Funding through this
contract may not be used for other functions or activities which the IMPB may choose to undertake.
This does not prevent the IMPB from securing funding from other sources to carry out these other
activities or functions.
In addition, can you please provide details of the reporting requirements placed on the two
IMPBs in the South Island and a copy of those reports”
For clarity, the two recognized IMPBs in the Te Waipounamu are:
• Te Tauraki; and
• Te Kāhui Hauora o Te Tau Ihu.
