Thank you for your email of 21 September 2024 to the Ministry of Education requesting the
following information regarding the Pūhoro STEMM Academy, specifically for the years 2021,
2022, and 2023:
1. Al  correspondence between the Ministry and the Academy. If this scope is too broad, I
specifically request all correspondence related to:
- Funding provided to the Academy.
- Outcomes of students participating in Academy programs.

2. Copies of all reports related to the Academy, not limited to annual reports, but including
any evaluations, assessments, or reviews submitted to or produced by the Ministry.

3. Detailed information on all forms of funding provided to the Academy, including but not
limited to grants, scholarships, and operational funding.

4. Copies of all invoices paid by the Ministry to the Academy, along with details of the
corresponding services or goods provided.

5. Any advice provided to the Minister of Education concerning the Pūhoro STEMM
Academy, including briefings, memos, and policy recommendations.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Regarding part one of your request, I am releasing 11 emails as Appendix A, and four
attachments as set out in the Appendix A Document Table.
Regarding part two of your request, I am releasing five documents in part and one if full as
Appendix B, as set out in the Appendix B Document Table.
Regarding part three of your request, I am releasing two documents in part as Appendix C, as set
out in the Appendix C Document Table.

Regarding part four of your request, I am partially releasing 12 documents to you: Six invoices as
Appendix D, as set out in the Appendix D Document Table; and six memoranda as Appendix E,
as set out in the Appendix E Document Table.
Regarding part five of your request, I am releasing two documents in part and two in full as
Appendix F, as set out in the Appendix F Document Table.

•  9(2)(a) to protect the privacy of natural persons.
•  9(2)(b)(ii) to protect information where the making available of the information would be
likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or who

any person has been or could be compelled to provide under the authority of any
enactment, where the making available of the information would be likely otherwise to
damage the public interest.
As required under section 9(1) of the Act, I have considered the public interest in releasing the
information withheld. I do not consider the public interest considerations favouring the release of
this information are sufficient to outweigh the need to withhold it at this time.
