Thank you for your request of 19 September 2024, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand,
requesting information relating to the Waikato Local Advisory Committee members appointments.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and your
questions have been separated and responses follow.
1. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website.
Advertising for the Local Advisory Committee (LAC) Member – Waikato, was posted on the
following platforms:
• SEEK
• Govt.Jobs
• Institute of Directors
• Appoint Better Boards
• Ahu Jobs
• Waikato – Fire and Emergency Facebook page
• LinkedIn
We also gave the following agencies the opportunity to share the position with their networks:
• Ministry for Women
• Te Puni Kōkiri
• Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People
• Ministry for Pacific Peoples
2. How many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your
role
We can advise 27 applications were received. Please note that the regulations governing the
appointments process requires a public nominations approach, with no ability to co-opt members
onto committees. This requires an independent application rather than one from a nominating
agency.
3. How many you have shortlisted
We can advise that 13 applicants were shortlisted for this role.
4. How many you have interviewed in this recruitment round.
We can advise that 12 applicants were interviewed. Please note that one applicant withdrew
between shortlisting and interview.
5. May I also seek a copy of the ad went out to public
