Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 20 August 2024 for information regarding the
appointments process to the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal – Te Rōpū Whakatika
Kaimahi Hauora (the Tribunal). You requested:
“May I kindly ask what is the payment rate for the member role, deputy chair role and
chair role. Also, May I kindly have the current list of name for chair, deputy chair and
member as of 1st Aug 2024 and each of them term of appointment e.g. appointment valid
to 1st Aug 2028. Further wil that be a warrant of appointment when they took the office? If
so please supply an example copy of their warrant of appointment or letter of
appointment”
The updated list of Tribunal members, including new appointments made on 21 August 2024, is
outlined in Document 1. This also includes information on the members’:
• Original appointment date
• Current appointment date
• Term end date.
Information on the members’ remuneration rates is outlined in Document 2. Please note the
remuneration rates vary for the dif erent health professions as these are determined by the
relevant Responsible Authorities.
Members of the Tribunal, including the Chair and Deputy Chairs, are advised of their
appointment
1 through a letter from the relevant appointing authority. In the case of the Chair
and Deputy Chairs, the Associate Minister of Health Hon Matt Doocey is the appointing
authority, while the authority to appoint other members to the Tribunal has been delegated to Dr
Diana Sarfati in her capacity as the Director-General of Health.
The letters of appointment received by appointees wil vary depending on the role and the
appointing authority, however these wil generally include information on the length of their term,
including the start and end date. A memorandum is also attached to the appointment letters for

the appointees to return to the Ministry. This confirms their receipt, acknowledgement, and
acceptance of the Tribunal’s terms and conditions. Please see document 3 as an example copy
of an appointment letter.
