Dear John,
Thank you for your email of 19 September 2024 requesting additional information as a
follow-up to OIA24-0594, relating to the Veterinary Council of New Zealand. Your request
has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).
You requested the following:
I noted “Nominations are now closed, and 16 nominations were received. 11 of these
nominations have been identified as qualified vets, four as otherwise qualified (lay
people), and one applicant was identified as not eligible for consideration. There were no
nominations received from nominating agencies.”
May I ask how many vets vacancy you are currently seeking for and how many lay people
vacancy you are currently seeking for? Also, what’s the reasons or grounds for the “one
applicant was identified as not eligible for consideration”?
On behalf of the Veterinary Council of New Zealand (the Vet Council), the Ministry for
Primary Industries are seeking to fill vacancies for one veterinary and one lay position on the
Council.
The applicant identified as ineligible for consideration had applied as a veterinary applicant,
and on review was identified as not being registered as a veterinarian in New Zealand and
therefore unable to be considered.
Should you have any concerns with this response, I would encourage you to raise these with
the Ministry for Primary Industries a
t [email address]. Alternatively, you
are advised of your right to also raise any concerns with the Office of the Ombudsman.
Contact details are: Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington 6143 or at
[email address].
Yours sincerely
