Bice Awan
has experience in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Canada. She is a member
of various professional conduct committees for health responsible authorities including the New
Zealand Psychologists Board, New Zealand Chiropractic Board, Occupational Ther

Michele Garrett
is a Podiatry Professional Leader for Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora
(Health NZ) Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Waitematā, and Te Tai Tokerau. She is a current
member of the Podiatrists Board of New Zealand’s Professional Conduct Committee, Chair of
the Northern Region Diabetic Foot Advisory Group, member of Podiatry New Zealand, and a
under
member of the New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes’ Executive Committee and the
Diabetic Foot Special Interest Group. Ms Garrett was previously a member of the Podiatrists
Board of New Zealand from 2006 to 2014 and was Chair for four years. She has previous
experience as the Team Leader of Podiatry in Diabetes Services and as a Project Manager in a
wound care pilot at Waitematā DHB, as a Lecturer in Podiatry and a Clinical Educator at
Auckland University of Technology, and as a Podiatrist at Bethnal Green Hospital in London,
England. She was elected
Released President of Podiatry New Zealand from 2013 to 2017 in addition to
being a Trustee on its Charitable Trust and member of its Clinical Governance Committee. Ms
Garrett has a Master of Health Science (first class honours) from Auckland University, a
Certificate of Tertiary Teaching from Auckland University of Technology, and a Postgraduate
Diploma in Primary Health Care endorsed in Long-term Condition Management from the
University of Otago
