Official Information Act request: Treaty Principles  
 
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) on 12 
September 2024, to the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry). Specifically, you requested:  
 
The NZ First Coalition Agreement of 2023 states: Conduct a comprehensive review of 
all legislation (except when it is related to, or substantive to, existing full and final 
Treaty settlements) that includes 'The Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi" and replace 
all such references with specific words relating to the relevance and application of the 
Treaty, or repeal the references. Please provide detail on all the legislation that has 
been amended in line with this review. 
 
At this point of the review, no amendments have been made to any legislation. I am 
therefore refusing your request under section 18(e) of the Act as the information requested 
does not exist.
