Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 3 September 2024. You 
requested: 
 
Could you please provide a copy of any and all correspondence the Police 
received from Rosemary Riddell in relation to the death of Polly Riddell and 
the charges against Carl Longshaw. 
 
The correspondence between Rosemary Riddell and Police is of a highly personal nature, 
and has thus been withheld by Police in accordance with the following: 
 
- Section 9(2)(a) of the Official Information Act 1982, as the withholding of the information 
is necessary to protect the privacy of natural persons, including that of deceased natural 
persons. 
 
Police considers the interests requiring protection by withholding the information are not 
outweighed by any public interest in release of the information. 
 
Please note that as part of its commitment to openness and transparency, Police 
proactively releases some information and documents that may be of interest to the 
public. An anonymised version of this response may be publicly released on the New 
Zealand Police website.
