Tēnā koe Brendon,
Official Information Act request regarding the weather in Taranaki.
I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) dated
31 August 2024 where you requested:
1. When is the weather in Taranaki going to improve?
We have had an unsettled August with a prolonged spell of westerly winds, this
has brought plenty of wet and windy weather to the west of the country. However,
there will likely be some more settled days this week, especially Thursday and
Friday before more rain returns on Saturday.
More broadly, for the month of September, an enhanced westerly flow brings
heavy rainfall to western regions, but gusty and warmer conditions further east.
The flow turns a notably cooler south-westerly by the second week of September,
with continued rainfall in the west and chilly conditions across most regions. The
second half of September will likely see more settled and near-average conditions
as high pressure builds east of the country.
