OFFICIAL INFORMATION REQUEST FOR Raetihi hub lease costs I refer to your official information request dated 28 August 2024 for Raetihi hub lease costs.
The information you have requested is enclosed.
1.What is the budgeted or forecast or expected lease costs p/a to council for the land?
There is no budgeted or forecast budget for lease costs. The land will form part of the partnership
between RDC and Te Korowai for the Community Hub. This will form part of a future partnership
agreement.
2./ Under what terms (duration) will council be provided the land, please provide supporting
documents
Will be addressed in any Partnership agreement. Council have decided to refuse your request
under section 17(e) of the LGOIMA Act – that the information requested does not exist.
3./ What protections are in place or will be in place to ensure council doesn't commit this spend
and then in the future the cost of lease become unfeasible, resulting in the loss of the asset which
is currently estimated to cost $7-10m.
Will be addressed in any Partnership agreement.
4./ What process or timeline does council have to start consent & building
There are still a number of steps that Council need to go through before further design work is
started, including agreement from Council to proceed. Consenting will be alongside design and
currently the timeline is expected to be in line with the budget in the LTP (2027) depending on
further decisions from council.

5./ What funding has council secured thus far for the project and what guarantees are there that
funding will not be withdrawn
Council has not gone out to find external funding as it is premature. Funding is best applied (with
increased possibility of obtaining funding) when a project is “Shovel ready”.

6./ In the project scope, is it documented that the project will not start until all funding is secured,
please provide supporting documents.
Council have decided to refuse your request under section 17(d) of the LGOIMA Act – that the
information requested is publicly available Raetihi - Ruapehu District Council (ruapehudc.govt.nz)
