Thank you for your email of 23 August 2024 to Wellington City Council (the Council) in which 
you seek information about the Reading cinema initiative under the Local Government 
Of icial Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA). You have specifically requested the 
following: 
  •  Please detail all costs if any incurred by the WCC, associated with the Reading 
Cinema deal that was abandoned earlier this year. 
 
•  This should include but not be limited to entertainment costs, legal and consultant 
costs, reports etc.  
 
Wellington City Council (the Council) recognises the extent of public interest in the novel 
commercial arrangement that it was investigating with Reading.  We have prepared a set of 
documents for public release, arising from this initiative, from the lead-up to the 
Memorandum of Collaboration and Understanding (MOCU) being signed, through to the 
Council’s decision to terminate the initiative on 16 April 2024.  The financial information you 
requested is part of this set, and we have at ached it to this letter. 
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(1) of the LGOIMA, to request an 
investigation and review of the Council’s decision by the Ombudsman. Information about
