[FYI request #28037 email] Tēnā koe Sam,
Thank you for your email of 13 August 2024 requesting, under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act), the following documents:
all comms including docs, emails (to/from the minister) in relation to October fees hike.
Did minister get any advise on impacts it would have on NZ migration. If yes, then
please provide that.
On 20 August 2024, my office wrote to you to advise that decision-making documents and
advice received on the fee and levy increase have already been proactively released on the
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment website. My office further advised you that
if we were to widen the scope of your request to include all communications between this
office and officials, that the request would necessitate substantial collation or research and
would need to be refused under section 18(f) of the Act. My office invited you to clarify if there
was anything more specific you were seeking, to allow this office to provide a response. My
office has not received a response from you.
As decision-making documents and advice received on the fee and levy increase are already
publicly available, I am refusing your request in full under section 18(d) of the Act.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
Nāku noa, nā
Hon Erica Stanford
Minister of Immigration
