Tēnā koe Erika,
Your request for official information, reference: HNZ00058979
Thank you for your email on 2 August 2024, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the

…in which Danielle Coe at Health NZ says “I am, however, able to advise that Health NZ
has not paid influencers or sports figures to promote COVID-19 vaccination since July
2022.”
How much money exactly was paid to many influencers prior to July 2022 for influencers
and sports figures to promote Covid 19 vaccination?
Please share which DHB paid for this (given HNZ started around June 2022), the monetary
amount, the influencer or company name and the date of the advert.
DBHs keep financial records for 7 years+ so this should all be in the financials system.”
Response
Health NZ is unable to provide you with this information as it would require pulling all the account
codes from late 2020 to June 2022 by transaction for each former district. Each transaction would
then need to be individually reviewed to determine what the purpose was. As such, we refuse your
request under section 18(f) of the Act.
I have considered whether fixing a charge for the supply of the information or extending the
timeframe for response would enable Health NZ to respond. I do not consider that either option
would remove the impact that supplying the information would have on our other operations.
