Thank you for your request of 30 July 2024, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand, requesting
information relating to the current and future build programme for large cab rural appliances and
the build programme for 4x4 Type 1 appliances. Your request has been considered under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and our response is below.

Can you please provide the fol owing details on the current (and future) build programme
for large crew cab rural appliances (currently based upon an Isuzu FSS550):
1. current contracted appliance builder, duration of contract, total number of units built and
delivered to date and the remainder to be delivered under the contract;
Our current contract is with Lockheed Martin Global Inc, this expires 30 June 2025. We have had
56 new units built and delivered to date and have none remaining to be delivered.
2. capabilities of the appliance including: tank capacity; pump make/type specifications and
performance, including outlet numbers, drafting capability, pump and rol capacity and
hose reel capabilities; locker capacity/volume and carriage of breathing apparatus (BA).

3. Can you also please provide details on any build programme for 4x4 Type 1 appliances,
including:
a. Capabilities of current Volvo 4x4 Type 1 appliance including: tank capacity, pump
make/type and capabilities, locker capacity, crew capacity.

4. Status of current Volvo 4x4 Type 1 appliance - is it a one-off concept vehicle, prototype, or
a first of production?
There are three more examples of this appliance in production with no more planned.
5. if applicable, timeframe for decisions on future build of 4x4 Type1 appliances and details
on likely build numbers, chassis selection and appliance builder.
Fire and Emergency has started a project to procure future 4x4 Type 1 appliances, which will
determine the appliance details and supplier(s). Build numbers are yet to be determined.
Therefore, this aspect of your request is refused under section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document
al eged to contain the information requested does not exist.
