Official Information Act request relating to NZDF personnel in Jordan 
 
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on 30 July 2024. 
You requested: 
 
“I am writing to request any further information about the deployment of NZDF 
personnel to Jordan in relation to the NZDF Contribution to Defeat ISIS in Iraq, relating 
to this document: https://www.defence.govt.nz/assets/publications/NZ-Military-
Contribution-to-Defeat-ISIS-in-Iraq.pdf 
 
As well as this cabinet decision: CAB decision March 2017 CAB-17-MIN-0081) 
 
In particular, the type of personnel (intelligence, Technicians, Combat) etc, and what 
roles they would have carried out.” 
 
The information you have requested is not held by the Department of the Prime Minister and 
Cabinet (DPMC), but I believe it may be held by the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF). 
Ordinarily I would transfer your request to the NZDF under section 14b(i) of the Act, but I am 
informed that you have already made your request to the NZDF. I instead refer you to their 
response. 
 
You  have  the  right  to  ask  the  Ombudsman  to  investigate  and  review  my  decision  under 
section 28(3) of the Act. 
 
We do not intend to publish this response on DPMC’s website.
