Extension of time to respond to request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 23 July 2024 requesting the fol owing information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
any information regarding decisions related to the continued sale of the new black 
number plates despite evidence that they are often unreadable. 
 
This includes any papers or decision documents presented or generated by or to the 
executive leadership team or any other decision making or advisory group within the last 
two years. 
 
This letter is to advise you that NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is extending the 20 
working days available to respond to your request, as allowed for under section 15A of the Act. 
We require an additional 15 working days and wil  send you a response on or before 10 
September 2024.  
 
The deadline is being extended as the consultations necessary to make a decision on your 
request are such that a thorough response cannot reasonably be made within the original 20-
working-day limit.  
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to complain to the Ombudsman about the 
extension. More information about the Ombudsman is available online at 
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
