Thank you for your information request dated
23 July 2024.
You asked for the following
information:
“Can you please provide us the total number of families that benefited from the
Whanau Ora Programme alongside with the total Whanau Ora money provided to
the three agencies tasked to ovesee Whanau Ora. For the budget, if possible can
you provide in percentage how much went to salary of staff and how many staff
were hired to reached the whanau.”
Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act).
In response to the first part of your request regarding the number of whānau supported we
advise as follows:
For the financial year ended 30 Pipiri 2023, Whānau Ora Commissioning Agencies supported
57,752 whānau, comprising of over
128,040 individuals. Please note these are the most
recently available figures, and that the support figures for 2023/24 and 2024/25 financial
years are not yet available.
With respect to the second part of your request regarding budget we advise as follows:
The total Whānau Ora money provided to the three Whānau Ora Commissioning Agencies
(Te Pou Matakana (trading as Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency), Pasifika Futures, Te
Pūtahitanga o te Waipounamu) is listed below for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 financial years.

In relation to your query about staff salaries and recruitment: Te Puni Kōkiri does not hold
specific information on Whānau Ora Commission Agency operating expenditure including
staff salaries or recruitment numbers. Accordingly, this part of your request is refused under
section 18(g) of the Official Information Act as the information is not held by Te Puni Kōkiri.
For further information on staff salaries, please contact the individual Commissioning
Agencies - note that they are not subject to the requirements under the Act. Their annual
reports are available online on their respective websites.
