Official Information Act request regarding Money to Ukraine 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act (the Act), received on 10 
July 2024. You requested: 
 
1.  “…Are you able to provide an accounting of the total funds gone to Ukraine I am 
specifically wanting to know who this money is paid to…For example who is this 
latest cheque of $16m being written out to and who have all the other cheques 
been written out to? 
 
2.  Can you also provide any formal / informal memos, drafts, notes relating to 
increasing New Zealand's military personnel including compulsory draft, national 
service etc etc any and all initiatives that might have been discussed by the 
previous administration or the current administration…”

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet does not hold information relating to your 
request.  
 
I believe information relating to part 1 of your request is held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 
and Trade. Accordingly, I have decided to transfer your request to the Ministry of Foreign 
Affairs and Trade under section 14(b)(i) of the Act.  
 
I believe information relating to part 2 of your request is held by the New Zealand Defence 
Force. Accordingly, I have decided to transfer this part of your request to the New Zealand 
Defence Force under section 14(b)(i) of the Act. 
 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the New Zealand Defence Force have the usual 
timeframes under the Act from receipt of this transfer to make a decision on your request.
