On  26  June  2024  you  asked  for  information  about  cameras  and  commercial  relationships.
Here is our response to your questions:
How  many  cameras  with  automatic  number  plate  recognition  capability  have
been  installed  on  roads,  streets,  intersections,  traffic  lights,  light  posts,  and
other  Council  property  with  Tauranga  City  Council’s  approval  in  the  last  five
years?

There have been 51 cameras installed in this timeframe.
How  many  cameras with automatic  number  plate  recognition are  operating  in
Tauranga City City with the Tauranga City Council’s approval?

A total of 51.
Does the Tauranga City Council own these cameras, lease these cameras, or are
they owned by another company?

The Tauranga City Council owns the cameras.
For  the  cameras  operating  on  roads,  streets,  intersections,  traffic  lights,  light
posts, and other Tauranga City Council property which are owned by companies
rather that Tauranga City Council, what are the names and NZBN numbers for
those companies.

We do not allow third party cameras on transportation assets. The only exception is a
surf webcam that is on Marine Parade and administered by Spaces & Places.
Which third parties does Tauranga City Council provide data, images, or footage
collected with cameras operating on roads, streets, intersections, traffic lights,
light posts, and other Tauranga City Council property?

The NZ Police can access footage upon request.

Does Tauranga City Council provide data, images, or footage to Auror Limited,
Datacom Group Ltd, vGRID, SaferCities, or Safe City Group Limited?

We provide a live video feed through vGRID to the NZ Police during incidents to assist
in  public safety. Video files  requested by  the Police are sent to them via the vGRID
system.
How  many  cameras  does  Tauranga  City  Council  have  in  2024  which  are
supplying data, images, or footage to vGRID, SaferCities, and/or Safe City Group
Limited?

Nil.
How  many  cameras  does  Tauranga  City  Council  have  in  2024  which  are
supplying data, images, or footage to Auror Limited?

Nil.
How  many  cameras  does  Tauranga  City  Council  have  in  2024  which  are
supplying data, images, or footage to Datacom Group Ltd?

Nil.
Does Tauranga City Council have a commercial relationship with Auror Limited
and  what  was  the  dollar  value  of  contracts  and  total  financial  transactions
(revenue and expenditure) with Auror Limited in the 2022/2023 financial year?

There are no revenue or expense transactions with this company.
Does  Tauranga  City  Council  have  a  commercial  relationship  with  Datacom
Group  Ltd  and  what  was  the  dollar  value  of  contracts  and  total  financial
transactions  (revenue  and  expenditure)  with  Datacom  Group  Ltd  in  the
2022/2023 financial year?

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to answer this part of your request within the 20
working day timeframe. This part of your request is extended to 7 August 2024.
The  extension  is  necessary  as  consultations  necessary  to  make  a  decision  on  the
request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original
time limit.
Does  Tauranga  City  Council  have  a  commercial  relationship  with  Safe  City
Group  Limited  and  what  was  the  dollar  value  of  contracts  and  total  financial
transactions  (revenue  and  expenditure)  with  Safe  City  Group  Limited  in  the
2022/2023 financial year?

No revenue received. Expenditure was $588.00.
