Dear Harry,
Official Information Act Request
We refer to your official information request dated 23 June 2024 which was partially
transferred to us by the Treasury on 8 July 2024 for the following information:
b. What is the spend in current FY (to 30.06.24) of each State Owned Enterprise that you
monitor on Maori cultural competency, engagement, work, Miki whataku (and anything
similar) and costs of those staff who have been recruited into Maori focused roles
(salary, expenses etc) and consultants engaged to in relation to anything related to the
above. How are those costs projected to change next FY for each organisation?
The final spend on Te Ao Māori in FY (to 30.06.24) was $53,000. This includes a Māori cultural
competency audit, Te Reo courses and learning support, and fees associated with Mihi
whakatau activity. The projected spend for the new FY25 is $50,000. We have no roles within
Airways that are specifically Māori-focused.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response.
