Request for information 
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 23 June 2024. You 
asked for information regarding Extra Police Staff for community beat duties. 
My response to each part of your request can be found below. 
1. The extra 10 Police announced for beat duties wil  these solely be on the beat in
Central Christchurch or will we see them in the suburbs like Hornby, Riccarton and
Papanui
The Community Beat Teams will be deployed throughout Christchurch, operating seven 
days a week. The Beat team wil  focus on the central city, public transport hubs and 
major shopping centres around Christchurch. 
2. Could you please advise when we will see the extra 10 Police announced today on
the beat in Christchurch
Community Beat Teams were rolled out in Christchurch on 1 July 2024. 
Please note that as part of its commitment to openness and transparency, Police 
proactively releases some information and documents that may be of interest to the 
public. An anonymised version of this response may be publicly released on the New 
Zealand Police website.
