Official Information Act request relating to the Prime Minister’s travel to Japan 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act (the Act), received on 17 
June 2024. You requested: 
 
Under the OIA I would like to request the following: 
 
Cost of flights for the PM and those accompanying him from PNG to Tokyo via Hong 
Kong broken down by individuals on the flight, please provide names ( except for 
security). 
 
Total cost of flights from Brisbane to Tokyo on Air NZ99 for the remaining people who 
did not accompany the PM.  
 
Names of people who flew in business class and cost per ticket. 
 
Names of people who flew in premium economy and cost per ticket.  
 
Total number of media on this flight. 
 
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet does not hold information relating to your 
request, but I believe such information is held by the Department of Internal Affairs, who are 
responsible for expenses relating to international travel by members of the Executive, including 
the Prime Minister. Accordingly, I have decided to transfer your request to the Department of 
Internal Affairs under section 14(b)(i) of the Act.  
 
The Department of Internal Affairs has the usual timeframes under the Act from receipt of this 
transfer to make a decision on your request.
