I asked stats NZ to address an error in the terms of reference. Attached is an update.
See paragraphs 7 & 8, which in the previous version implied we had made a referral to
Police about incentives to switch rolls. That was not correct. We only referred regarding the
lack of a promoter statement, and were not aware of incentives to switch rolls at that stage
(which is not an offence in the Electoral Act).
The version attached, and updated on their website, does not refer to the Electoral
Commission in paragraphs 7 & 8.
Our website and statements we have made are clear that it was a lack of a promoter
statement that was referred.
