Thank you for your original request of 30 May 2024 and subsequent clarification on 18 June 2024, 
to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (OIA): 
 
•  Please provide a list of all ranked paid employees within FENZ. This information should 
capture all Firefighters, Communications Staff, District Management, Region Management, 
USAR personnel etc. This should be by rank, first and last name, station/area. 
 
This letter is to advise that Fire and Emergency needs to extend the timeframe of our response to 
your request by 20 working days, pursuant to section 15A(1)(a) of the OIA, as the request is for a 
large quantity of official information or necessitates a search through a large quantity of 
information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with our operations 
and 15A(1)(b) of the OIA, as consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such 
that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. 
 
For this reason, you can expect to receive our response no later than 14 August 2024. We will 
endeavour to respond sooner than this date if possible. If you no longer require this information, 
please let us know. 
 
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(3) of the OIA, to request an investigation 
and review of Fire and Emergency’s decision to extend the timeframe by the Ombudsman.
