Thank you for your email of 28 May 2024 to Wellington City Council | Te Kaunihera o Pōneke (the 
Council) requesting the following information: 
 
1.  Please provide the total cost paid out for interest only for 2024 January - March 31 
 
2.  Should WCC be doing a ten year plan when elected members to council are unable to get an 
accurate financial picture for the council? 
 
If councilors can’t get it how can ratepayers make an honest assessment? 
 
It appears the ten year plan is looking to pil age the remaining resources of the ratepayer with 
some of the new levies and taxes that are being “consulted” on but are no doubt already 
being implemented in the budget 
 
Your request has been considered under the Local Government Of icial Information and Meetings Act 
1987 (LGOIMA).  
 
The total interest expense for the period of 1 January 2024 – 31 March 2024 was $19.8 million.  
 
The second portion of your request is not seeking official information held by the Council, but rather 
requiring an opinion be made, of which the Council has no obligation to form an opinion or create 
information to answer.
