Official Information Act request
Thank you for your email of 15 May 2024, requesting information about whether
the Ministry has used contractors, consultants or other services to fill gaps as a
result of accepting voluntary redundancy applications in the last six months.
I have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
As you may be aware, the Ministry recently accepted 218 applications for voluntary
redundancy. You can read more about the process on our website, here:
www.msd.govt.nz/about-msd-and-our-work/newsroom/2024/voluntary-
redundancies-confirmed.html.
This is the only voluntary redundancy process undertaken by the Ministry in the
last six months. As such, your request for information about contractors,
consultants or other services engaged as a result of voluntary redundancy is
refused under section 18(e) of the Act as the information does not exist.
I will be publishing this decision letter, with your personal details deleted, on the
Ministry’s website in due course.
If you wish to discuss this response with us, please feel free to contact
[MSD request email]. If you are not satisfied with my decision on your request, you have the right to
seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman. Information about how to
make a complaint is available a
t www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or 0800 802 602.
