DSOIA129 – Benefits of Charter Schools 
Thank you for your email of 14 May 2024 to Minister Seymour’s office requesting the following 
information: 
I request the advice the Minister has received that demonstrates how charter schools lift 
educational outcomes, in a New Zealand context. 
Where any advice was received as email correspondence, I would be happy for this 
information to be provided as a list, by title and date. 
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). 
Due to an administrative error your request was transferred to the Ministry of Education. I am now 
transferring it back to Minister Seymour’s office, as we have determined that the information 
requested is more closely connected with the functions of his office. As such, I am transferring your 
request to Minister Seymour’s office in accordance with section14(b)(ii) of the Act. 
I apologise for the confusion around the initial transfer to the Ministry and the delays this caused. I 
can assure you, however, that this transfer back to the Minister’s office wil  not entail any additional 
delays, as the staff working on your request have continued collating the information in scope of 
your request. 
You may expect a response from Minister Seymour’s office directly concerning your request and 
without undue delay.
