Thank you for your email of 7 May 2024 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) requesting the
following information:
Provision of learning support in Nelson - I request all reports, briefings, analysis, advice,
and consultation documents held by the Ministry on this hub.

I request all correspondence between the Ministry and Salisbury school, as well as
between the Ministry and BLENZ, the Ministry and Ko Taku Reo, and the Ministry and any
disability groups (including Whaikaha) relating to this new hub.
I am interested in information created after 1 Jan 2020 to present
On 5 June 2024, the Ministry informed you that it needed to extend the timeframe for responding to
your request, pursuant to section 15A(1)(b) of the Act, as consultations necessary to make a
decision on the request were such that a proper response could not reasonably be made within the
original time limit.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Relating to part one of your request, we have identified 15 documents in scope of your request as
listed in the Document Table Appendix A below and attached as Appendix A. I am releasing all
documents as listed in part with name, email and contact information withheld on the grounds of
section 9(2)(a) to protect the privacy of natural persons.
In respect of part two of your request, we have identified 46 emails and 29 documents (which
were included as attachments to some of the emails) as listed in the Document Table Appendix
B below.
I am releasing six documents in full, and all emails and 23 documents in part as Appendix B, with
contact information of current Ministry staff members, names of ex-Ministry staff members and
details of some third parties including names, email addresses, contact numbers and website
details withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to protect the privacy of natural persons.

Organisations’ commercial details are also withheld under section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the Act to protect
information where the making available of the information would be likely unreasonably to
prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or who is the subject of the

As required under section 9(1) of the Act, I have considered the public interest in releasing the
information withheld. I do not consider the public interest considerations favouring the release of
this information are sufficient to outweigh the need to withhold it at this time.
