Dear John, 
As you are aware, your request made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) on 11 April 2024 
to Callaghan Innovation was transferred on 15 April 2024 under section 14(b)(i) of the Act to the  
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) as the monitoring government department. 
Your request made under the Act is for the following information: 
“May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for public 
nominations e.g.govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications you have received from the 
public and how many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry 
of women etc, how many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.” 
Please see below my response to your request. 
I understand the request is about how the role was advertised and how many applicants were 
shortlisted and interviewed. These functions are carried out by MBIE, while appointment decisions to 
the Callaghan Innovation Board are made by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology. 
The link you provided leads to the notice of appointment of Hon David Bennett to the Callaghan 
Innovation Board. MBIE did not call for nominations or receive applications from the public for this role. 
The Minister put forward Hon David Bennett, who was subsequently interviewed by MBIE.
