Dear Jack

Request for information

Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 1 April 2024.  You
requested:

•  Police are often seen working in co-operation with local authority parking
wardens in Auckland in several downtown areas during the hours of darkness,
especially Friday and Saturday nights.

Is this a planned and combined operation? If so, for what reason?

Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982
and we enclose the following information:

•  Auckland Central Area do not as a matter of course run planned operations with
local authority parking wardens.  However, Police may on occasion be called to
assist Auckland Transport parking wardens on any night where they deem an
event is occurring that presents risk to them.

Please note that as part of its commitment to openness and transparency, Police

public.  An anonymised version of this response may be publicly released on the New
Zealand Police website.
