Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your follow up request under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the
Ministry of Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 20 March 2024. You requested:
“How many fines were collected by authorized enforcement persons under s 18 (1) (f) of
the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act. The fines I've referring to were for businesses
and for individuals.”
No fines were collected by authorised enforcement officers under section 18(1)(f) of the Covid-
19 Public Health Response Act. Ministry of Health enforcement of icers do not collect fines. Al
infringement fees paid in respect of infringement offences must be paid into a Crown Bank
Account in accordance with section 32 of the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020. As
set out in your previous response (H2024035624 refers), the amount received by the Ministry of
Health and paid into a Crown Bank Account in payment of fines was $11,600 (no GST).
