Thank you for your email of 19 March 2024 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
Do MBIE and Trading standards stil undertake Fuel Quality Monitoring and release annual reports
as there does not seem to be one published since 2022?
If there is one can it be released?
Trading Standards still administers New Zealand's fuel quality monitoring programme, testing samples to
ensure fuel retailers and suppliers are complying with the regulations. As part of this role, Trading
Standards prepares annual fuel quality monitoring reports which give an overview of the results of the
previous year's testing programme.
The latest report, which covers the period from July 2022 to June 2023, wil be published and publicly
available on the Trading Standards website on 11 April 2024 at:
https://fuelquality.tradingstandards.govt.nz/about-us/fuel-quality-monitoring-annual-reports/.
If you have any further questions on the content of the report once you have reviewed it, please direct
them to:
[email address].
MBIE is therefore refusing your request under section 18(d) of the Act, as the information requested will
soon be publicly available on 11 April 2024.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request or this response, or if you require any further assistance,
please contact
