INFORMATION REQUEST – Helicopter charges
We write in response to your email dated 7 March 2024 in which you requested the following
information:
total per year from 2017 of any charges paid for or contributed to by TCC for the
use of helicopters on Mauao. If possible please separate maintenance from other
activities e.g installation of sculptures etc.

We have considered your request in accordance with the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“LGOIMA”) and respond as follows:
Helicopters are used on Mauao due to the sensitive archaeological landscape
requiring low impact methods and also the steep terrain and dense vegetation that
makes ground-based methods high risk. Please see the table below for the projects
and the cost of the helicopter for each.
