I refer to your information request dated 6 March 2024 under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act). You have requested information in relation to entry to the 2024 Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS)
programme via the Graduate General categories; and the 2023 and 2024 Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS)
programme via the Alternative General category.
Subject to the fol owing comments, see below our response to your request.
The data is correct as at 5 April 2024.
1. How many people applied through the “graduate” category (excluding sub-categories) for
Dentistry?
143 applicants applied for the 2024 BDS programme via the Graduate General category.
2. Lowest GPA for successful graduate applicants (excluding sub-categories) for Dentistry.
The minimum GPA to enter the 2024 BDS programme via the Graduate General category is
7.93.
3. Highest GPA for unsuccessful graduate applicants (excluding sub-categories) for Dentistry.
The highest GPA that did not receive an offer to the 2024 BDS programme via the Graduate
General category is 7.88.
a) Of those individuals who applied, how many received an interview invite?
There are 70 applicants who applied to the 2024 BDS programme via the Graduate
General category (excluding sub-categories) and received an interview invite.
b) Of those individuals who received an interview invite, how many received an offer?
There are 16 applicants who received an offer. We note that offers are only offered to
applicants once an interview was being conducted.
4. How many people applied through the “alternative” category (excluding sub-categories) to
enter the 2023 and 2024 Bachelor of Dentistry?
21 applicants applied for the 2023 BDS programmes via the Alternative General category.
42 applicants applied for the 2024 BDS programmes via the Alternative General category.
a. Of those individuals who applied, how many received an interview invite?
There are 6 applicants who applied to the 2023 BDS programmes via the Alternative
General category and received an interview invite.
There are 12 applicants who applied to the 2024 BDS programmes via the Alternative
General category (excluding sub-categories) and received an interview invite.
b. Of those individuals who received an interview invite, how many received an offer?
There are 5 applicants who received an offer in the 2023 BDS programmes via the
Alternative General category (excluding sub-categories).
There are 6 applicants who received an offer in the 2024 BDS programmes via the
Alternative General category (excluding sub-categories).
We note that offers are only offered to applicants once an interview was being
conducted.
