Thank you for your request of 23 February 2024, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting the
following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
•
I request the deployable appliance requirements for all alarm levels. If possible, please
include all deployable assets, including specialist vehicles, officers, and partner agency assets
such as ambulances.
Thank you for your further email of 6 March 2024, refining your request to be for the following:
1. The deployable appliance requirements for structure fires only across one zone for each
alarm level in central Whangārei.
2. The names of the 20 event types
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and our response is
below.
The Pre-Determined Attendance (PDA) for a structure fire (STRU) in the Whangarei CBD zone is:
• A PUMP is a typical fire appliance, typically with a crew of four firefighters.
• A SUPPT is a support unit, typically an Operational Support Vehicle used for scene control
and supporting the firefighters at the incident.
• A COMU is a Command Unit and typically used to take a lead role at a larger incident,
coordinating across multiple crews/appliances and potentially with other agencies.
In summary, the number and types of appliances at an incident of any given alarm level structure
fire for this zone would be:
