OIA-2024-0048
Brett Cooper
[FYI request #25845 email]
Dear Brett
Official Information Act request:
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 23rd
February 2024. You requested:
- How many OIA requests from social networks (like twitter) have your received
since forming a government. And how many have been Processed in the
correct time frame for an OIA request.
- How many OIA requests been ignored on Twitter (or other social networks)
because Judith has blocked or muted their OIA communication.
While I do have social networks, I do not actively monitor these networks for OIA
requests.
Currently I actively monitor OIAs through:
- My Ministerial email (available on the Beehive website:
[email address])
- My Parliament email (available on the Parliament website:
[email address])
- Through the FYI website
In answer to the first part of your request, given that I do not actively monitor OIAs
through social networks I consider that substantial collation would be required in
order to go through all possible aspects of my social networks that could contain
messages, comments or posts I have been mentioned in that may or may not
contain OIA requests. As such I am refusing this request in full under section 18 (f).
In answer to the second aspect of your request, I have not muted OIA
communication through Twitter. While I do not actively monitor Twitter for OIA
requests, members of the public stil retain the ability to tweet either at me, in reply or
in a post of their own – all which could be avenues for OIA requests. Therefore, I am
refusing this section in full under section 18 (e).

Under section 28(3) of the OIA you have the right to complain to an Ombudsman
about my response to your request. The Ombudsman’s email is:
[email address].
Yours sincerely
Hon Judith Collins KC MP
