Thank you for your email of 15 February 2024 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
I am writing to ask for an update on the research on intersection safety which was begun in 
2017 and is listed on this page: www.nzta.govt.nz/walking-cycling-and-public-
transport/cycling/cycling-research.  “The AA and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency are jointly 
funding research, beginning in February 2017, into ways to make intersections safer and more 
comfortable for cyclists and motorists. A pilot study wil  begin in February 2017." 
Please come back with any outcomes of this research, and if there are none, an explanation 
for what happened to this study.
